I was skimming thru some blog that had the motherfucking gall and nerve to say how since Justice has a new record coming, that bangers are back. Then, I actually heard the new song (I’m a fan of the dudes when they do good work, nothing wrong with that) and I did all the abbreviations applicable: WTF, SMH, FTW, LOL, LULZ, ad infinitum. IT SOUNDED LIKE THE LAST RECORD!!! I mean, they have their “big french cathedral” sound down and all that, I just don’t understand how the populace at large could basically turn off their radios for 3 years in regards to DANCE FLOOR bangers. I know Steve Aoki fucked it up for everyone by attaching his name to anything with some type of flavor, but that’s happening all over L.A. so it’s nothing new. However, by forcibly sleeping on the dudes who have filled in the blanks over the last few years, that is motherfucking criminal. All the Death Crew 77 (bloody beetroots, NT89, whoever) cats in Italy, Digitalism, Alan Braxe (until he started looking for vocalists for his songs. big fuck up there), Blamma! Blamma! and Foamo in the U.K., the list goes down the block. They even have sick label mates like DJ Mehdi, Mr. Oizo, Feadz and Sebastian!
These bloggers and tastemakers (big quotations all over that shit) need to wake the fuck up and start charting an evolution of a sound versus whatever amounts to the “best and brightest” by way of advertising revenue and doctored numbers. There’s all sorts of people making sick shit above the radar that don’t get referenced in this day and age. The homies Principles Of Geometry KILLED a Mr. Oizo remix in the way that only french dance monsters can, but no one tripped. Even though the dudes were hit and miss at times, I will miss Institubes and their diesel contributions to their scene. Para One is THE nigga in charge and Surkin has a bright future. As it is, Sound Pellegrino corrected any mistake that Institubes could have made, so hats off to Teki and Orgasmic…..
